In this project, water resource management for Nablus governorate will be done since there is scarcity of water in Nablus Governorate like the other governorates in Palestine, the current sources of water (wells, springs and purchased water from the Israeli) don’t meet the real need of the governorate, and the per capita share of water a day is less than (100L/c/day) as World Health Organization (WHO) recommended. Beside this, some communities in Nablus Governorate don’t have water distribution network to serve their population.
In order to solve these problems the real water demand must be determined to know the amount of water that each community should be provided to meet their needs. The result is a gap between demand and supply since the amount of water needed is more than the amount of water available.
To close the gap accelerating plan must be put to develop the existing water resources in the governorate such as make water distribution networks to communities that don’t have one, rehabilitation of the existing networks to minimize the percentage of loss and increase the efficiency, dig new licensed wells, or make rehabilitation of existing well and pumping stations, building reservoirs, establishing main lines to supply water to piped and un-piped communities. So new project must be done, in order to solve these problems.
This proposed project contains six chapters. Chapter One is Introduction about the situation of water sector in Palestine and Nablus Governorate.
Chapter Two is the ?Study Area? contains general information about Nablus governorate like location, topography, population…etc. Chapter Three is ?Existing Water Resources? includes information about water resources exist in Nablus governorate, the location of these resources, the amount of water that each resource give, and the per capita water consumption for piped communities. Chapter Four ?Future Water Needs? demonstrate the amount of water required for municipal & Industrial Purposes up to the end of year 2030, and give the gap between the demand for year 2030 and the existing supply. Chapter Five ?Proposed Water Sources? contains the future potential water sources that may be helpful to close part of this gap. Chapter Six ?The Investment Plan? includes the needed projects and infrastructure to bridge the final gap
